Poem #1

Writer: Rebekah NigroRebekah Nigro

For You

brighten my 5 AM

with your mischievous knock and smile

mom says “two more hours”

we whisper-giggle

remember the night

we found gifts

unwrapped in the closet

15 years later

december is still a month

to show what we noticed about each other

in the eleven others

like that knitted cable scarf

you eyed from a frosted window

waiting impatiently downstairs

for you.
